There are two different entry options with accompanying courses that cover ammunition types, bullet construction and performance, and the benefits of choosing non-lead ammunition. There is a longer course for brand new hunters who are considering what ammunition to use for their first hunt, and a short course for experienced hunters who already have experience choosing ammunition. 

Hunters seeking to enter as a New Hunter must have purchased an Oregon big game license for the first time in 2023 or 2024 or be a youth hunter (ages 12-17). Youth hunters may continue entering as a New Hunter until they age out. All other hunters should enter as an Experienced Hunter.
